Supported Volunteering Project

Volunteer Centre Greenwich, in partnership with GAD, has started a Supported Volunteering Project.  We are looking for local people to become mentors to give one to one support to vulunerable adults in our community.

Vulnerable adults include people who have been out of the workplace for some time and perhaps have suffered a knock to their self-esteem and confidence.  Also included are disabled people and anyone with additional support needs.

Do you feel that this project could help you?

If you feel that being matched with a mentor would help you gain confidence or access volunteering with the aim of getting back into employment, maybe we can help:

The main areas we are working with are:

  • Woolwich Riverside
  • Woolwich Common
  • Glyndon
  • Abbey Wood
  • Thamesmead
  • Middle Park
  • Sutclifffe

So if you come from on of these areas and feel you would like some help accessing volunteering or training, contact me to become a mentee.

As a mentee you will be offered various training courses and volunteering opportunities to boost your confidence and self- esteem. Your mentor will support you to gain experience in an area in which you are interested.

Are you interested in becoming a Mentor?

Mentors will be able to support vulnerable adults to access volunteering and training opportunities, as well as gaining personal experience.

All mentors will be trained to Level 1  Interpersonal Skills with the opportunity to take Level 2.  They will also have access to various training courses and the project will pay expenses which includes travel and lunch if you volunteer for more than four hours.
